Direct TV Pushing NFL Sunday Ticket
Every summer for the past fifteen years, Direct TV has rolled out a Sunday Ticket promotion for new customers. Usually, this is the best deal offered for new subscribers. If you are considering satellite TV, then review the options available from both Direct TV and Dish Network, but remember that Direct TV has an exclusive marketing agreement to carry the football package.
This year, Direct TV is pushing harder than ever to get thousands of new customers signed up. Nine new commercials will hit the airwaves over the next few weeks, along with a forty page insert in Sports Illustrated highlighting the features of the NFL Sunday Ticket offer. In addtion, special advertising will also be deployed to those with iPhones and the brand new iPad. So why the big push this summer?
It could be becuase Direct TV is fearing that the NFL owners will lock out the players before the start of the 2011 season. With both sides apparently ready and willing to stand their ground, Direct TV may be the one footing the bill. Thats because Direct TV is on the hook for next year whether games are played or not. That means their usual promotion which brings in hundreds of thousands of new customers each summer could fall flat on its face.
If though, Direct TV can entice more people to sign up this year, they will have them locked in for at least the next 24 months, as all new satellite television agreements require a two year contract. That would at least somewhat mitigate the effects of an NFL work stoppage next summer.
The deal this summer though is an overall win for consumers. In addition to five months free of the all inclusive package, customers can new get HD free for life as long as they meet the terms of service.
